Welcome to this weeks instalment of the Beardie Weirdie Blog!

The birthday weekend was a good one, very relaxing!  Saw lots of friends and family, and got spoilt rotten.

Another flat week on donations, think I might have to do a press release or similar…….

While it’s quiet though, I’m pleased to say that the beard is still growing.  It’s rapidly encroaching on my top lip, which is only going to get more and more annoying.  I did receive a beard comb and wax from my lovely, supportive wife, so I will have to get it trained.

Here’s the progress so far:

Swiftly moving along, this weeks Beard of the Week, suggested by my a couple of people, namely Tom and Laura, is a tribute to the Six Nations.  While I’m not particularly a sports fan, I always enjoy international rugby fixtures, especially the Six Nations tournament, and to celebrate the first ever Six Nations match on a Friday this weeks Beard of the Week is dedicated to the bearded rugby players.

There have been many bearded rugby players over the years, but I wanted to limit it the 2009 squads, and this year, alas, beards are poorly represented in rugby.  Based on the official photographs on the official site (so apologies for errors of omissions), England and Scotland squads can only muster stubble at best.  Wales, Ireland, Italy and France however have a beardie per squad.  Adam Rhys Jones from Wales, Marcus Horan from Ireland, Sebastien Chabal from France and Martin Castrogiovanni from Italy.

Dirty Knee, I’m 33! 3 comments

Welcome to a special issue of the Beardie Weirdie Blog!
Today, 20th February is my 33rd birthday!  One third of a century!  (save a few of months).  I started a tradition when I started working to never work on my birthday.  In that theme, I have taken a couple of days off to kick back at home with the wife and kids.  It’s half term in Bedfordshire this week, so it’s been pretty good timing.

The birthday will involve a lazy morning, featuring a lie in, and lots of tea and crumpets, somewhere tasty for lunch, then family visitors later on in the day.  Perfect!

The credit crunch is in full flow now, the initial flurry of donations have dried up.  I think some guerilla marketing might be in order……  More on that later on.

I had my first outing for work this week, and my good friend Oakers suggested that a suited and booted Beardie might make a good Kodak moment, so here it is!  This photo was taken by my lovely wife, Sam, on Tuesday night on my return from Camberley.

I haven’t done a pointless poll recently, so this week I’m asking for your opinion on:

Daddy or Chips?

  • Chips (67.0%, 6 Votes)
  • Daddy (56.0%, 5 Votes)

Total Voters: 9

Swiftly moving along, this weeks Beard of the Week, suggested by my sister Nic, is Steve Cropper.  Famous to most for his roll in the Blues Brothers, but Steve Cropper is an incredible guitar player.  I’d recommend looking him up on You Tube.

Careful! It’s Friday 13th! 2 comments

Welcome to this weeks Bearded Blog!

Today is Friday 13th!  Luckily I don’t suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia.  That’s the fear of Friday 13th.   Though for those of you that do, watch out for cracks in the pavement, black cats, and walking under ladders!

It’s been a quiet week in beard land this week.  With the credit crunch in full swing, I guess people are watching the pennies a bit more closely.

I’m a bit nervous about next week.  I am generally office based, but I’ve got an out and about day to see a customer.  First bearded outing!  Will probably scruff up OK - I’m sure I won’t be the first ever bearded bloke to don a suit and tie!

Here’s the latest photograph, taken on Thursday (12th Feb).  I’m all dressing gowned up this week.  I’ve been poorly this week - I’ve had a nasty ear infection that has kind of knocked me for six.

Moving on to this weeks “Beard Of The Week” (BOTW),my mate Oakers is convinced that I’ll end up like one of these guys - ZZ Top!  I am less convinced!  Curiously, the drummer from the band, Frank Beard, is the only one without a massive beard.  Strange, huh!?!

Welcome to this weeks Beardie Weirdie Blog!

It’s been a cold, snowy, wintery week this week.  I had a snow day on Monday, and spent the day playing in the snow with the family.  I managed to make it into my office for the rest of the week.  The drive in on Thursday was particulary dodgy.  Going anywhere near the go or stop pedal made the car go kind of sideways.

The fundraising is still going well.  Chris has gone for a “pay as you grow” scheme, and my good friend Oakers has dug deep too.

Here’s the current mug shot taken Thursday night:
