Well, it’s Friday already! Time sure does fly when you’re growing a beard. I went for a walk along by the river in Bedford at lunchtime yesterday. It was a windy day, and I could actually feel my beard blowing in the wind! Sounds like the start of a Bob Dylan parody! “My beard my friend, is blowing in the wind. My beard is blowing in the wind.”
The past week has included Mothers Day. Sunday involved lots of family visits, and we had our first BBQ of the year. A great time was had by all!
The beard is definitely growing. Here’s the current shot took on Thursday night:

This weeks Beard of the Week is none other than Laurence Tureaud, better known as Mr. T - B.A. Baracus from the A-Team.
Welcome to this weeks instalment of the Beardie Weirdie Blog!
Well hello there! I’ve now fully recovered from my bulldog clip experiment. The smarting have subsided, and the borrowed box of clips has been returned to my office.
This week, I pretended to be Irish for a day on Tuesday, and tucked into a couple of lovely pints of Guinness, and raised a glass to St Patrick.
I developed a taste for the black stuff out in Dublin, where I’ve spent quite a bit of time on business out there.
Unfortunately, I discovered that my moustache is not compatible with Guinness:

I think before long, I’m going to need to take a flannel with me ever where I go, just in case I need to eat or drink anything while I’m out!
I got an email from my mate Nicko this week, pointing me at a beard related site - Beards from Below - an adventure in facial hair perspective. I decided to submit an entry. Hopefully it’ll get added to their site at some point!

Moving along, this weeks Beard of the Week is Matt Groening. Creator of the Simpsons and Futurama, I am a big fan, so Matt, keep up the good work!

I guess everyone is giving their hard earned to Comic Relief this week, hence no donations to the Beardie Weirdie cause. So in the spirit of “if you can’t beat them, join them”, this weeks blog is dedicated to Comic Relief - Red Nose Day!
The motto of the Comic Relief campaing this time round is “Do Something Funny for Money!”, so here’s my contribution:
For those of you unable to view the video on YouTube, here’s a still from the movie:

Carrying on the Comic Relief theme, this weeks Beard of the Week is Lenny Henry. Not particularly known for being a beardie, but as luck would have it, he’s had to grow a beard for his role in Othello.

Welcome to this weeks instalment of the Beardie Weirdie Blog!
Well, today, 6th March is the 66th day of 2009. So far, I’ve raised over £1 per day for charity. I’m hoping to ultimately pass a pound per day, but am pleased with the progress so far. This weeks donations are from Chris, and from my lovely wife, so a big, big thank you to you both.
Exciting news today, I’ve discovered a chappy across the pond in Cleveland who’s also doing a Year of the Beard. I’ve had a read through his blog, and he sounds like a good bloke! He must be - he gives me a mention!
Well, my beard is growing well. The moustache is already starting to get quite annoying, it’s crawling over my top lip, so I’m going to have to give it some serious training. I’m a good way off being able to plait it to keep it out of the way!
Here’s the current mug shot, taken on Thursday evening.
