Second is the new first…. No comments yet

Howdy doodie beard fans, and welcome to the last blog of July.

Well, when I write this, the poll on whether or not I should dye the beard is inconclusive - 50% yes, and 50% no.  As is traditional with these 50%/50% situations, I tossed a coin - heads for yes, and tails for no.  It turned out tails, so I won’t be dyeing the beard for now.  Perhaps I’ll have another vote later on in the year.

Here’s the mug shot for the week - I’m wearing my lovely new hat that I got.  The summer sun is so hot at the moment, I need the shade that it provides to avoid getting hot under the collar.

This weeks Beard of the Week is the legendary author Terry Pratchett.  He came runner up in the Beard Liberation Front 2008 Beard of the Year.  Pipped to the post by Tom Jones and Rowan Williams.

Hello my beardless friends.  Welcome to this weeks Beardie Weirdie Blog!

Well, it’s been a funny old week.  The weather has taken a turn for a worse - it’s been feeling quite autumnal this week - cold and damp.  I guess it’s the best we can expect from an English summer.

Also, the nation seems to have been gripped with Swine Flu all of a sudden.  People in my office have been out with it, my sister-in-law, cousins, and various friends have all gone down with it.  I’m really hoping to duck it!

Big thanks to my wonderful Mum, Rose this week for her continuing support and donations!

Here’s this weeks mugshot, taken by my lovely wife, Sam:

You can’t really tell from the photographs. but my beard is getting more and more multi-coloured.  There’s a lot of gold. silver and ginger in there, and if the sun does come out, I think it’s only going to get lighter, so this weeks question is:  Should I dye the beard?  Have your say!  Depending on the results, this time next week, I may be reaching for the Just for Men!

Should I dye the beard?

  • Yes! (50.0%, 8 Votes)
  • No! (50.0%, 8 Votes)

Total Voters: 16

Hello there, and welcome to this weeks Beardie Weirdie blog!

In the interest of mixing it up, and keeping it real, I’m going to start with “Beard of the Week” this week!  I know, I am living on the edge!

This week was suggested by my good mate Dan, and is “Macho Man” Randy Savage.  And what a beard he has!  There aren’t enough bearded athletes if you ask me.  You can’t really see him too well here though - he’s camouflaged against an orange background, but here he is:

Well, the mid month lull in donations is upon us again, so nothing to report on that front.  Here’s the latest photo of me.  You’ll be please to see that I have not donned the Spandex for this one!

That’s it for me, more exciting news next week!

Hello there, and welcome to this weeks instalment of the Beardie Weirdie blog.

This week I’ve been doing my very best impression of a lumberjack, chopping down a monstrous leylandii hedge from my back garden.  I’ve been called Grizzly Adams in the past, but it’s actually quite fitting this week, although I’ve been using a chainsaw instead of a more traditional axe.  I’ve had sawdust in my beard, I’ve had sawdust in my hair, I’ve had sawdust in my shoes and eyes, I’ve had sawdust EVERYWHERE!

Many thanks to Chris for this weeks donation.

Alas, I have no action shots from my chopping, however here’s this weeks photograph.

Welcome to this weeks Beardie Blog!

This weeks sees the half way point in my bearded adventure.  On today, Friday 3rd of July it’s 184 days = 4416 hours = 264,960 minutes = 15,897,600 seconds since I last shaved on 31st December 2008.  That’s a lot of numbers - praise be for Excel!

With the greatly appreciated donation from Oakers, I’m currently 55% towards my fund-raising target of £500 for the Pasque Charity.  With your support, I’m confident that we can get the desperately needed funds to this very good cause.

Moving on then, it’s been hot this week.  Very hot.  When I left my office on Tuesday evening, the thermostat thing in the car reckoned it was 37°C.  Granted, our car park is a bit of a sun trap, but I’m surprised that my car tyres haven’t melted!  Luckily, the beard isn’t too bad in the heat, although it’s definitely more challenging to apply sun cream.

I’m sure you’re busting to find out what six months of beard growth looks like, so here goes:

6 months of beard!

This weeks Beard of the Week is none other than Captain Birdseye.  Not the new fangled one, not the short lived young and hip Captain Birdseye, but the original one - from when I was a nipper.  John Hewer played, in my opinion, the best Captain Birdseye, so here he is:

More from me next week!  Pip pip!
