Beards are so 2009! 2 comments

Hello Beard Fans, and Happy New Year!

Well, the donations have flooded in in the last week of so.  Big thanks go out to Adam & Naomi, Tom & Cathy, Lord Benj, my father-in-law Richard, father-in-law Ken, Paul, Oakers and random surfer Andy Lorenz!

Well, I’ve made it to a year, and the beard has now gone.  It’s very strange being beardless, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon enough!

I featured in the local Comet this week:

Me in The Comet

Me in The Comet

The beard has gone!  In a shaving team effort at my mate Dan’s just after mid-night on New Years Eve, the beard was shaven.

Here’s the before:

Before - full beard

Before - full beard

During:

During - half beard

During - half beard

and after:

After - no beard

After - no beard

It’s amazing that a full year of beard growth fitted into one little bag, but I suppose I am but a boy.  I feel much younger now, and am looking forward to blending back into obscurity.

That’s me done for now!  Many thanks again to everyone for their support over the last year or so.

Bye for now!

Hallow-weiner! 1 comment

Hello, and welcome to this weeks spookey Halloween Blog!

We’ve been away on holiday to Derbyshire this last week, so our Halloween festivities have been limited.  We popped up the local super-market to pick up a pumpkin, but alas they were sold out, and the kids didn’t really fancy the idea of carving a turnip.  We did pick up some sweeties to dish out to the local trick-or-treaters.

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but we decided as a family to do some Halloween face painting, and I got the full treatment from my 10 year old daughter, Erin.  She’s also credited with taking this weeks photo:

Hello there, and welcome to another bearded blog.

Big thanks this week to Oakers from Navan in Ireland for this weeks lovely donation.  It’s really easy to part with your hard earned, just click here!

I stumble across this today, it’s more facial hair related than specifically beard related, but I liked it anyway, and thought I’d share it with you - the Moustache Mug!  They ought to launch a Beard Mug - they could market it as the Bearded Brew.

Speaking of mugs, here’s a photo of mine this week.  Taken by my 10 year old daughter, Erin.  I was in the midst of knocking up a batch of lovely winter warmer soup.  My apron was a gift from my brother-in-law, Adam Marek, he’s a very talented author.  Check out his website here.

This week’s Beard of the Week was suggested by a couple of friends of mine - Chris and Glenda.  Seen on Wednesday night against Belarus, is of footballer David Beckham, this week sporting an almost full set!  This photo was nabbed of the Telegraph website, and they’re suggesting that it’s the “World’s Worst Beard“.

Hello there readers, and welcome to this weeks bearded installment.

I’ve been pondering of late how to end the bearded year of mine.  I’m planning on shaving on 01/01/2010, maybe at a minute past midnight on New Years Eve, depending on where we are.  My current thoughts are that I want to keep the neck beard, and look a bit like this chap:

Moving on, big thanks to Stash and Chris for this weeks donations.  As time goes on, we’re getting closer and closer to reaching the £500 target that I have set.

Here’s an update of my photo.  Taken in classy black and white on my camera phone.  My phone isn’t up to much, and the colours were properly messed up, so I though grey scale was the way forward this week.  This photo was taken by me, this lunch time, in my office in Bedford.

Moving along to this weeks “Beard Of The Week”, I have selected America’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.

Gary Straight Beard 1 comment

Hi there beard fans!

We’ve been playing with the hair straighteners this week, and I’d like to introduce you all to Gary, my evil twin brother.  Gary has an unnaturally straight beard!

And “Yes!”, it did hurt!  I was going to say that pain is a small price to pay for art, but I’m not sure I could be accused of art!  That said, Gary, my evil straight bearded twin, is arty, and has just produced this little gem:

Artistic!

I tried Googling a beard of the week for someone with a straight beard, failed miserable, and swiftly gave up, so this week, suggested by my old mate Mark via Facebook is hard man Kimbo Slice.  Kimbo is obviously a made up stage name, his real name, according to Wikipedia is Kevin - much less hard!

Did you miss me? 3 comments

How do Beard Fans!  Welcome to this weeks Beardie Blog!

I hope you didn’t miss me too much last week - I was away on holiday.  I had meant to get a guest writer lined up, but like a lot of things, I didn’t quite get around to it!

We had a camping trip down in Cornwall.  We went as a group - us 4, along with a couple of my wife’s cousins, their partners and children, her Aunt, and a dog!  We were camping newbs, and the “safety in numbers” approach paid off - we had a cracking time!

Belated thanks to Chris this week for his continuing support.  Donations are very thin on the ground during August - I guess a lot of people are away on their holidays too….

This weeks photo is a self portrait, and was taken on Perranporth beach, just down the coast from Newquay.

This weeks Beard of the Week was suggested by my daughter, Erin, and is TV presenter and comedian JLC - Justin Lee Collins.

Howdy doodie beard fans, and welcome to the last blog of July.

Well, when I write this, the poll on whether or not I should dye the beard is inconclusive - 50% yes, and 50% no.  As is traditional with these 50%/50% situations, I tossed a coin - heads for yes, and tails for no.  It turned out tails, so I won’t be dyeing the beard for now.  Perhaps I’ll have another vote later on in the year.

Here’s the mug shot for the week - I’m wearing my lovely new hat that I got.  The summer sun is so hot at the moment, I need the shade that it provides to avoid getting hot under the collar.

This weeks Beard of the Week is the legendary author Terry Pratchett.  He came runner up in the Beard Liberation Front 2008 Beard of the Year.  Pipped to the post by Tom Jones and Rowan Williams.

Hello there, and welcome to this weeks Beardie Weirdie blog!

In the interest of mixing it up, and keeping it real, I’m going to start with “Beard of the Week” this week!  I know, I am living on the edge!

This week was suggested by my good mate Dan, and is “Macho Man” Randy Savage.  And what a beard he has!  There aren’t enough bearded athletes if you ask me.  You can’t really see him too well here though - he’s camouflaged against an orange background, but here he is:

Well, the mid month lull in donations is upon us again, so nothing to report on that front.  Here’s the latest photo of me.  You’ll be please to see that I have not donned the Spandex for this one!

Halfway house! No comments yet

Welcome to this weeks Beardie Blog!

This weeks sees the half way point in my bearded adventure.  On today, Friday 3rd of July it’s 184 days = 4416 hours = 264,960 minutes = 15,897,600 seconds since I last shaved on 31st December 2008.  That’s a lot of numbers - praise be for Excel!

With the greatly appreciated donation from Oakers, I’m currently 55% towards my fund-raising target of £500 for the Pasque Charity.  With your support, I’m confident that we can get the desperately needed funds to this very good cause.

Moving on then, it’s been hot this week.  Very hot.  When I left my office on Tuesday evening, the thermostat thing in the car reckoned it was 37°C.  Granted, our car park is a bit of a sun trap, but I’m surprised that my car tyres haven’t melted!  Luckily, the beard isn’t too bad in the heat, although it’s definitely more challenging to apply sun cream.

I’m sure you’re busting to find out what six months of beard growth looks like, so here goes:

6 months of beard!

This weeks Beard of the Week is none other than Captain Birdseye.  Not the new fangled one, not the short lived young and hip Captain Birdseye, but the original one - from when I was a nipper.  John Hewer played, in my opinion, the best Captain Birdseye, so here he is:

Hello there Beardless Buddies, and welcome to this weeks blog!

News from beard land this week - our cat Pepper has delivered 5 healthy baby kittens!  To honour this momentous occasion, I have prepared a world exclusive - a beard made of kittens!

A big thank you to Emma Bygrave for this weeks donation.  I’ve never actually met Emma.  Her donation was made today following a brief email exchange, and she must of clicked on to the website from my signature.  I guess she agrees that the Pasque Charity is a good cause!

Well, last weeks photographs of my haircut caused quite a stir.  I’ve had comments coming in via emails, texts, and comments on Facebook.  You can all breathe a sigh of relief that the photo’s were purely taken for fun, and I haven’t looked like a bowl cut monk for the week.  Here’s the beard in all of its 163 days of glory:

Last but by no means least, this weeks Beard of the Week was suggested via Facebook a few weeks ago by my friend Glenda, and requires no introduction.
